Relive 2024 through this month-by-month recap of major events in Les Gets, between world events, music and comedy festivals and a host of other activities.
January 🤡
For the first month of the year, we love to have a laugh! A comedy festival has been held in Les Gets for some time now. In 2024, the festival returned for the Montreux fait du ski with French and English comedians. These two memorable evenings led to the decision to repeat the laughter festival in 2025. This time, a week of laughter awaits you on the ‘Les Gets Comédie’ stage from 25 to 31 January 2025.
On the sporting front, Les Gets hosted the World Junior Ski Championships. From 27 January to 3 February 2024, the Portes du Soleil welcomed young talent from all over the world. There were some unforgettable highlights, such as the team parallel event on the Les Perrières piste in Les Gets, a crucial stage in this prestigious competition. It was also an opportunity for our ambassador Léo Coppel to compete on home turf!
February ❄️
A month just as sporty as the last for our resort, with the FFC French Snowbike Championships. A weekend of adrenaline and extreme sliding took place on February 3 and 4. With intense races and introductory courses, this weekend will be remembered as a unique sporting experience!
March 🎶
Let’s continue the recap with a look back at Off the Pistes: the festival that gets the Portes du Soleil dancing. Just a few days before the resort closed, Les Gets hosted the festival, featuring several DJs, including headliner Marnik. Once again, the festival had skiers dancing in the heart of the resort!
April 🌤️
The resort is slowly closing its doors to welcome the light of spring. The last snowflakes are melting away to make way for new activities. It’s time to put away the ski boots and bring out the hiking boots.
It’s also time for restaurants, bars and other businesses to organise their last winter events before reopening to welcome the bikers and families who come to enjoy the mountains in the summer.
May 🌲
As the first cycling trails prepare to host the summer’s major events and the many mountain bikers, the resort of Les Gets is shedding its white coat and embracing its summer colours.
June 🔆
Summer is officially underway with the first event of the season: the Pass’Portes MTB. Featuring an 80km mountain bike ride at altitudes of between 1,000 and 2,450 m, across both France and Switzerland, the Pass’Portes MTB is the prefect event for discovering the stunning Portes du Soleil mountain bike area and its breathtaking scenery.
Les Gets will be the host village for next year’s Pass’Portes, giving you another chance to take on the adventure.
July 🚵♂️
With two major events -the Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup and the Cross-Country World Cup– July 2024 is hard to forget. An unforgettable crowd, increasingly impressive athletes and a French victory for Amaury Pierron in the men’s DHI made this event the perfect way to kick off the summer of 2024.
For those who prefer running, Les Gets hosted another edition of its famous Trail des Gets.
With a variety of routes and breathtaking scenery, this public event continues to attract new fans.
New challenge alert: this winter, the resort is offering you the chance to repeat the trail experience on new paths -this time covered in snow!
August 🧀
In August, Les Gets offers a different kind of sport. Every year, we host a unique hike: the Rallye Gourmand. Combining a discovery of the village and the mountains, the Rallye Gourmand will capture the hearts of walkers and lovers of local produce.
For future champions, the Vélo Club des Gets is organising the DH Kids Cup. Young bikers, aged 7 to 14, take part in the competition on the legendary trails of the Les Gets bike park.
September 🦊
The Alambike returned with its unique 24-hour relay bike race. An event that showcases mountain biking in a different format from the usual races, the Alambike is an event for everyone -from the draisienne (from age 3) to the flagship event: the 24-hour relay.
October 🎃
As every year, Halloween marked the perfect opportunity for all the little ghosts to put on their best costumes and collect as much candy as possible! Entertainment, shows and good times were the order of the day during the All Saints’ holiday.
November ☃️
As the first snowflakes begin to fall, the resort is getting ready to welcome holidaymakers in just one month. Preparing the ski area, ensuring lift safety… Everyone involved in the resort is in full swing.
December 🤍
Let’s finish this round-up with the most magical month of the year. After the opening of Les Gets ski area on December 21, the village welcomed Father Christmas and his elves for a unique show, along with an unforgettable parade on December 24. The perfect way to cap off a magical year.
Happy new year 2025 💫
