At the age of 23, Océane Avocat Gros is a student in sports education in Grenoble, but she is above all the future of ski jumping for women, a discipline she has been practicing since she was 14 years old!
A sports fan, the young woman put the skis on at the cradle.
“As soon as I was 5 years old, I competed in alpine skiing with my club in Annemasse, which trained in Les Gets. One day, the club received an email to learn ski jumping in Les Contamines on a 15m and 30m springboard. I went there and I thought it was pretty cool. »
The year 2010 is the year of his first jumps. “Small bumps”, she jokes.
“It was the time of the 1st Women’s World Cup in ski jumping and that pushed me to jump into this adventure. I started quite late, when I was 14, but I went all the way! I hung on to catch up with the girls of the team. »
In the French B Team since 2016, she has been in the top 30 in the World Cup circuits, determined to win her place for the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.
“I train all year round, in summer and winter, to perform well on the World Cup circuits and the World Championships. It is on the basis of World Cup results that the quota of places for the Games is recovered. The World Cups are a bit like the antechamber of the Olympics.”
Demanding and motivated, she is the pride of the resort in this sensational sport for which she is the charming asset.
